This technique is very simple and you will be surprised. A jamb saw is a mechanical gizmo designed specifically for removing the bottom of door casings so flooring can slide under thus providing a nice clean appearance after the floor is installed. Installing laminate flooring around door jambs can be tricky.

Here is how to cut door trims. Cutting your own door jambs with a hand saw is the least expensive way. It is used predominantly for laminate wood and cork flooring installations. I don t want to see a gap between the laminate and the door casing.

First butt a piece of laminate against the bottom of the door jamb and draw a line where the top of the laminate meets the door jamb. Jamb saw undercut doors casing trim. If your installing your own laminate flooring you may need to under cut some door jambs. Try not to cut higher than the gauge block or a gap will appear between the flooring and the jamb.
